Do I need an active internet connection to run and program pib?
No. All core robotics functions, motor controls, and programming environments run 100% locally on the robot’s Raspberry Pi. You do not need an active internet connection for daily classroom use or workshops.
What works completely offline (Local Network):
- Cerebra Web Interface: Connect your laptop, tablet, or phone directly to pib via local Wi-Fi or hotspot.
- Motor Control & Kinematics: Joint control, poses, and calibration.
- Visual Coding & Scripting: Programming sequences with Blockly or writing custom Python and ROS 2 code.
- Computer Vision: Local camera image processing and face/object detection.
When internet access is required:
- Initial Setup & Updates: Downloading Docker containers, software packages, or system updates.
- Cloud AI & Voice Features: Using generative conversational dialogues or cloud-based text-to-speech features via TRYB.ai.
